Configuring Asset sub web definitions for offline use
In the Assets module, you can also add an Offline sub web definition (system name: OfflineMobileAssetSubDefinition). It consists of a Summary page, multiple blocks and details pages, which hold the more specific asset information.
This 'offline' type of web definition is specifically designed to allow field engineers to download assets for 'offline' consultation and updating in the Work assignments module. This is sometimes required if they are working at locations where there is no or very limited internet connection. Any asset data edited during the offline period will be synchronized with the back-office when they are online again.
To activate the offline capabilities of the Assets module, use the following procedure.
Procedure
1. In Live app > PMFS (Live app) , select the Assets module.
2. Select the main web definition to which you want to add a 'sub' for working offline with assets.
3. On the action panel select Add sub - Offline mobile asset subdefinitions.
4. In the Business objects dialog, select the user-defined asset type that you require, for example M&E assets.
5. On the data panel fill in the required fields and click Save.
6. Select the main asset web definition and on the bottom panel, select the Landing page.
7. On the landing page data panel, select the Actions tab.
8. Select the Downloaded action.
9. On the Action properties pane, select Yes in the Is visible field.
The Assets module containing the 'offline' sub definition is ready to be linked in the Summary page of the Work assignments module, to support downloading assets for offline work locations. See Configuring downloads of assets for offline use for more information.
