Application management : Configuration : Field Definer : User-defined business objects : Allowing end users to change the type of business object
Allowing end users to change the type of business object
The Change type functionality enables end users to change the type of a business object:
From a user-defined business object to another user-defined business object
From a system business object to a user-defined business object. It is not possible to change a user-defined business object to a system business object.
The reasons for using the Change type functionality is best illustrated with an example:
An organization uses two user-defined types of the Properties system business object: Complex and Wing.
Head office Beverly road has been specified as a wing, but it should be a complex. With the Change type option, end users can easily change this.
After selecting the Change type option, a dialog box opens where end users can select the correct type.
To make the Change type functionality available to end users, you must configure settings in Field definer and Layouts .
Precondition
You can only use the Change type functionality:
For business objects for which it is possible to create user-defined business objects.
If the action is available on the action panel (see Settings in Field definer ).
If both business objects have the same Default status (see Settings in Layouts ).
