Price indexation
Price indexation updates contract prices based on factors such as inflation, market changes, or predefined indices.
In Planon, you use the Index action to index contract prices. This action is available at:
• Contracts selection level – indexes the entire contract. All linked contract lines are indexed up to and including the specified date.
• Contract lines selection level – indexes individual contract lines up to the specified indexation date.
You can index prices using an indexation method based on:
Planon automatically recalculates indexed prices if, on or before the last indexation moment, you change:
• the amount
• the base amount for indexation
• the year or month of base amount indexation
• the indexation method
If you change the indexation method, the most recently selected method is used for future indexations.
If you manually change an amount on an indexation moment, that amount is not indexed. Planon saves the manually entered amount and skips indexation. To apply indexation again, change the amount back to its previous value. Please refer to the following example.
Example
An amount is subject to 10% monthly indexation, starting on February 1. Indexation moments: February 1 and March 1.
| January | February | March |
|---|
Amount | 100 | 110 | 121 |
Case 1: Manual price change on an indexation moment
The amount is manually changed to 150 on February 1 (an indexation moment). Because the change is made on an indexation moment, no indexation is applied on that date.
| January | February | March |
|---|
Amount | 100 | 150 | 165 |
To undo this manual change, change the amount back to 100 as of February 1. The amount will then be indexed again from that date.
Case 2: Manual price change outside an indexation moment
The amount is manually changed to 150 on January 10 (not an indexation moment). The amount is indexed at the next indexation moment.
| January | | February | March |
|---|
Amount | 100 | 150 | 165 | 181,50 |
To undo this manual change, change the amount back to 100 as of January 10.
