Base amount indexation
When prices are indexed using an indexation method based on a base amount, Planon calculates the new price using predefined index numbers and the specified base amount. The new price is calculated as follows:
You can define base amount indexation methods in Supporting data > Indexation methods. For more information on defining indexation methods, see Indexation methods.
Example
This example illustrates how base amount indexation works.
Given:
An index group with year-based index numbers
Index number for 2023: 118
Index number for 2024: 122
A base amount indexation method
A base amount of 200, entered in Contracts > Contract details > Contract lines
The selected year for indexation is 2024
Calculation:
The index number of the relative year (index group year – 1) is used as the numerator
The index number of the selected year is used as the denominator
Formula:
118 / 122 × 200 = 193.44
A new contract line and life cycle is subsequently added. The new price is specified in the contract line.

In a base amount indexation, the indexed amount may be adjusted due to a minimum indexation, a maximum indexation, or a correction factor. In that case, Planon redefines the base values. The base amount is set to the newly indexed amount after adjustment, and the base index number is set to the index number used in the most recent indexation. The original base amount and base index number are no longer applied to future indexations. If an indexation is changed retrospectively and the base amounts of the last indexation should not have been adjusted, Planon restores the original base amounts. Planon recommends checking the base amounts.
