Indexing contract prices
You can index entire contracts or individual contract lines.
Procedure
1. Go to Contracts > Contract lines.
2. Select the relevant contract line(s).
3. Select the required indexation method in the Indexation method field.
4. Enter the date of the first indexation in the Next indexation date field.
5. Activate the contract line(s).
The indexation method is registered from the start date of the contract line. Once indexed, Planon will automatically calculate and populate the next indexation date. If required, you can manually adjust this date using the Add Modification option. When the contract line is due for indexation, Planon will apply the updated date you set, and then calculate the following indexation date automatically.
6. Depending on what you want to do:
◦ If you want to index an entire contract, go to Contracts and select the contract(s).
◦ If you want to index a large set of contracts, run the indexation as a background action. Select a date in Indexed up to and incl. that applies to all contracts. For more information on the actions that can be run as a background action for contracts, see Using background actions.
◦ If you want to index individual contract lines, go to Contract lines and select the contract line(s).
7. On the action panel, click Index.
The Enter values window is displayed:
◦ By default, the last day of the current month is selected.
◦ To use a different date, select one in the Indexed up to and incl. field and click OK.
The selected contracts or contract lines are now indexed.

When you manually change an indexed amount — overruling the system-calculated value — Planon keeps the original indexation information available in the following fields:
• Original indexed amount: Displays the original indexed amount that you overruled.
• Original indexation details: Displays which indexation-related fields were cleared when you overruled the indexed amount.
If you prefer not to use the built-in indexing feature, you can also manually add amounts in Planon that have been indexed by another tool or application. The Add indexed amount manually action allows you to directly register a new amount on a specific reference date. For more information, see Manually adding an indexed amount.
