Assets module - Assets web definition
General information
Planon app > Assets comes with a preconfigured, ready-to-use Assets module.
In this module you can add new Assets based web definitions or further customize the existing one. The standard delivered Assets web definition enables app users to search for corporate assets.
The Assets module supports displaying the multiple locations of non-unique assets.

Separate layouts for user-defined assets & building elements
The
Assets module supports the use of
user-defined assets. This means you can configure different layouts and fields on the app for different types of assets. For example: you may require a different layout for
Furniture than for
M&E assets. In that case you must create a
sub web definition per user-defined asset / building element. For information on how to configure a sub web definition, see
PMFS solution

Option to work offline with assets
In the Planon app Work assignments module, fields engineers can (temporarily) work offline, to support remote work locations with no (or limited) internet access. In such situations, it can be very convenient for field engineers to be able to download the most recent asset information before they go offline.
Therefore, the Assets module also supports 'offline' working, with a special type of sub web definition designed for offline use. This image shows examples of online and offline web definitions that can be added as a 'sub' in Assets:
| If you also need the Assets app module for offline use, it is recommended to create a single sub web definition that serves that purpose. This is because the corresponding settings for downloading assets in the Work assignments module only allow one module link. See Configuring Asset sub web definitions for online use for more information. |
