Specifying the maximum number of records shown
The Max. no. of records shown option enables you to specify the maximum number of records that will be displayed in the elements list (including elements lists in dialog boxes). This way, you can limit the number of records displayed in the elements list, which speeds up the application if the number of records for a specific business object becomes very large.
Procedure
1. Select the business object for which you want to specify the maximum number of records to be displayed.
2. Set the business object to Under construction. See Setting a business object under construction.
3. On the General tab, go to Max. no. of records shown and select the check box.
4. Enter a number. This is the maximum number of records that will be displayed in the elements list.
5. Click Save.
6. Set the business object to Completed.

The Ignore 'Max. no. of records shown' setting in User groups, can be set to Yes on each user group, allowing for more tweaking of this generic setting. Note, however, that when pagination is switched on, this method does not apply to regular lists and trees.
Result of this setting for end users
If the number of records to be displayed exceeds the maximum you specified, end users will see an empty elements list displaying the message: Set a filter to reduce the number of values.
If required, end users can apply a filter to restrict the number of records that can be displayed in the element list.
