Preventing activity planning outside the contractual period
Planon administrators can use the Prevent activity definition periods outside contract line period? setting to prevent the planning of PPM work outside a contractual period.
Maintenance planners can manually adjust the start-/ end date of an activity definition. In contract-based maintenance, this could cause problems if they adjust start and end dates to the extent that a linked contractual period (as defined in the contract line) is no longer covered. This could result in PPM orders without a contractual basis. Planon will validate all changes to the start and end dates of activity definitions against any linked contract lines. However, you can make a setting to either:
just show a warning
or
actually prevent activity definitions from being planned outside their contractual period
Procedure
1. Go to Field definer > Business Objects selection level, select the Base activity definitions business object.
2. On the Status transitions action panel, click Under construction.
3. On the System business objects action panel, click Business objects settings.
The Maintenance activity definition settings dialog box is displayed.
4. Go to the setting Prevent activity definition periods outside contract line period?.
5. By default this field is set to No.
If the maintenance planner changes the period (start-/ end date) of the activity definition and lets it fall outside the period of the linked contract line (=contractual period), a warning message is shown. The maintenance planner may decide to ignore this warning and proceed.
6. Select Yes if you want to prevent maintenance planners from planning the start and end dates of activity definitions outside the period of the linked contract line (=contractual period).
If the maintenance planner changes the period of the activity definition and makes it fall outside the linked contract line (=contractual period), a error message is shown, saying that the change is not possible.
7. Click Save and Close.
8. Return to the Business objects selection level and on the Status transitions action panel select Completed.
The selected setting is now activated.
