Core TSIs : Capital Projects : Getting started with capital projects : Linking a capital project to a cost group and budget category
Linking a capital project to a cost group and budget category
You can link a capital project to a cost group through a budget category.
Procedure
1. In the Budgets TSI, go to Budget categories.
2. On the Budget categories action panel, click Capital investment budget.
3. Complete the fields in the data panel.
4. In the Project field select the main level of the relevant capital project.
5. Use the Link projects action if you want to link multiple projects to the same budget category and cost group. This action opens a dialog box where you can select multiple projects and link them to a main (top-level) project. All subprojects under that main project are then automatically linked to the same shared budget category and cost group structure. For more information, see Shared cost group and budget category.
6. In the Cost group field, select the main level of the relevant cost group.
7. Click Save
You have now added a budget category and linked a capital project to a budget category and cost group. For more information on budget categories, see Adding budget categories.
*
If the linked capital project is defined as operational expenditure, you must select a financial year for the whole project.
Note that you can link a capital project and a cost group only once.
You can now proceed to add budgets to the project. See Defining budgets.
