Defining a cost group
Procedure
1. In the Budgets TSI, go to Components > Cost groups.
2. On the action panel, click Add.
3. Complete the fields in the data panel. For more information, see Cost group data fields.
4. Click Save.
You have added a new cost group.
To link budgets to a capital project, you must link the project to a unique cost group structure. This structure is hierarchical, up to four levels deep, and represents a task list.
Each main capital project can have its own task list. For convenience, Planon suggests creating a cost group template (ensure this isn’t used as an actual project). You can copy this template, remove any unnecessary codes, and link it to a new capital project.
In Budgets , you need to link the main level of the cost group to a main-level capital project before you can create budgets. For more information on linking a capital project to a cost group, see Linking a capital project to a cost group.
