Effort based on months
When the effort is specified in months, make sure to check the setting Based on calendar months? on the project activity. This setting determines how the effort is interpreted and how the end date is calculated. By default, Based on calendar months? is set to No.
Based on calendar months? is set to No
The effort is calculated as a fixed number of 20 working days per month.
With a project calendar: 1 month = 20 * working hours
Without a project calendar: 1 month = 20 calendar days
Examples:
Start: Monday Jan 15, 08:00 / Effort: 3 months (project calendar = Yes) / End: Friday Apr 6, 18:00 (60 working days)
Start: Monday Jan 15, 00:00 / Effort: 3 months (project calendar = No) / End: Saturday Mar 17, 00:00 (60 days later)
Start: Tuesday Mar 11, 07:00 / Effort: 1 month (project calendar = Yes) / End: Monday Apr 6, 17:59
Start: Tuesday Mar 11, 07:00 / Effort: 1 month (project calendar = No) / End: Monday Mar 31, 07:00
Based on calendar months? is set to Yes
The effort is calculated using full calendar months. Planon adds X calendar months to the start date and tries to keep the same calendar day and time.
If the resulting month has fewer days, the end date is set to the last day of that month. For example: April 31 does not exist and is adjusted to the end of the month: April 30.
If a project calendar is linked, Planon adjusts the calculated end date to the last valid working moment before that date.
Examples:
Start: Jan 31, 08:00 / Effort: 1 month / End: Feb 28, 08:00 (non-leap year)
Start: Mon Jan 15, 08:00 / Effort: 3 months
- With project calendar: End: Friday Apr 12, 18:00 (adjusted to last working moment)
- Without project calendar: End: Monday Apr 15, 00:00
Start: Friday Feb 28, 07:00 / Effort: 1 month
- Without project calendar: End: Monday Mar 31, 07:00
- With project calendar: End: Friday Mar 28, 17:59 (end of working week)
