Defining the effort for project activities
Procedure
1. Go to Projects > Project items.
2. Select the project activity (WBS item) for which you want to define the effort.
3. Go to the Effort field and enter a value using the period picker. The effort can be defined in minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months.
◦ If a
project calendar is linked: effort is calculated based on the defined working hours (for example: 09:00–17:00, Monday to Friday).
◦ If no calendar is linked: effort is calculated using continuous time—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Example
Effort | Project calendar | Example |
---|
2 days | No | Start: Monday 8:00 - End: Wednesday 8:00 |
2 days | Yes | Start: Monday 8:00 - End: Tuesday 18:00 (assuming 10-hour workdays, with start time 8:00 and end time 18:00 on every working day) |
1 week | Yes | Start: Monday 8:00 - End: Friday 18:00 (based on calendar’s working hours) |
| If the calculated end time is outside working hours, Planon shifts the end time backward to the nearest valid working moment. |
