Work assignment
What is it?
Work assignments make it possible for one or more persons to work on the same order at different times.
Difference between order and work assignment
The Order fields determine WHAT and WHERE work needs to be done. So, the location of the actual work and the 'job description' will be the same for all work assignments. Example: a check of the proper operation of all emergency lighting throughout a building.
The Work assignment(s) that you add to the order you determine WHEN this work must be done and WHO is carrying it out. So, the person carrying out the work and the time when the work is picked up can differ per work assignment.
Consequently, the following data must be entered for each work assignment:
• Internal tradesperson
• Order
• Code
You can create work assignments for the following order types:
• Work orders
• Move orders
• Planned maintenance orders
| As soon as you fill in the Internal tradesperson on the order, a corresponding work assignment is automatically created. |
Where can you view / add work assignments in Planon?
Work assignment(s) are displayed on:
• the Work assignments selection step in the Work Orders TSI
• the Resource Planner planboard
• on the AppSuite app > My Jobs
• on the PMFS solution app
Work assignments can be added in:
• Work Orders > > .
• Resource Planner
If configured in your Planon environment, you can also view or edit a person's work assignments in Personnel > > .
If you fill in an internal tradesperson on the order, who is also a field engineer using a PMFS app, and you set the work assignment status to Assigned, it will be sent to this person's mobile device. The job can be picked up on site, and subsequently updated and finished. The work assignment is then returned to the back-office for further administrative processing.
Configuration - settings
Planon administrators can set the Field definer order setting Activate 'Multiple Work Assignments? to Yes, to allow the creation of multiple, active work assignments under a single order. This enables multiple tradespeople / engineers to work on this order, each according to their own individual 'planning'. If No is selected on this setting, there will only ever be 1 work assignment to each order (work order, move order, PPM order).
