Meter control context
Use the Meter control context business object to define how a meter behaves over time specifically, whether it is operational and which system (Planon or an external system) is responsible for recording its readings.
A meter registered in Planon can either be used exclusively within Planon, or shared with an external system. When a meter is shared, the Meter control context makes it unambiguous who owns the readings at any point in time.
The Meter control context is a time-based business object. Each record is valid from a specific start date, and records form a continuous timeline with no gaps or overlaps. This means you can always look up exactly which system handled readings on any given day.
You can only edit the most recent record, the one with no end date. To make a change, enter a start date for the new situation. Planon automatically closes the previous record one day before that date.
