A gauge definition includes the general attributes of a gauge, which are shared by all gauges that are added to it. A gauge definition is one of two types of meter definitions. The other type is counter definition.

Gauge definitions are added and maintained in Meters > Meter definitions. A gauge can only be added to a gauge definition.
