Generating lifecycle costs
Generate projected maintenance and replacement costs for an asset scenario.
Before you begin, verify:
• An Asset scenario exists.
• A Lifecycle cost calculator is selected.
• All required values for the selected lifecycle cost calculator have been entered. For the Planon Lifecycle cost calculator, this includes Base life, Maintenance costs, and Replacement costs.
Procedure
1. Open the required Asset scenario for which you want to create a lifecycle scenario.
2. Verify the Base life, Maintenance cost, and Replacement cost values.
3. Verify that a Cost calculator is selected.
4. Click Calculate Lifecycle cost.
The Enter values dialog box appears.
5. Select Calculation start date values as required and click OK.
The Calculation start date determines the date from which lifecycle costs are generated or recalculated.
During the initial calculation, this date typically corresponds to the maintenance start date of the asset. If lifecycle costs are generated again using a later calculation start date, Planon recalculates the lifecycle costs from that date onward while retaining the previously generated lifecycle costs for earlier periods.
Wait until the background process has finished.
6. Go to Lifecycle cost selection level.
Lifecycle cost records are generated for the selected asset scenario.
The Planon lifecycle cost calculator generates:
◦ Annual Maintenance costs for every year of the configured lifecycle.
◦ Replacement costs when the configured Base life ends.
If the calculation fails and no lifecycle costs are generated:
◦ Verify that all mandatory values are entered.
◦ Check the Background actions overview for failed calculations.
◦ Correct the reported issue and run the calculation again.
