BIM Connect 2.0
With the expanding Building Information Modeling landscape, the need arose to support multiple BIM formats. Planon has resolved that requirement by creating a BIM Connect 2.0 Platfrom app that liaises with AutoDesk and Cadac service.
The new process for creating BIM models no longer relies solely on Revit. Instead, it uses the Autodesk Model Derivative API to convert various BIM model formats (e.g., IFC) into SVF format and extract the necessary metadata.
To structure the extracted data into the required COBieLite.xml format, the Cadac service uses a mapping file. This file guides how the metadata is interpreted and ensures the proper alignment of property, floor, space, and asset data with the COBieLite.xml.
