Defining 'Criticality' for assets
In the dedicated Criticality TSI you can define criticality values / scores for your assets.
Example of a widely-used model where an asset's criticality is placed into one of three categories:
High criticality: the asset's failure causes significant safety, environmental, regulatory or operational problems.
Medium criticality: the asset's failure impacts performance but can be managed temporarily.
Low criticality: the asset's failure has minimal impact and can be tolerated.
*
There is no business logic directly built into the criticality feature, such as automatic calculation of criticality scores. With a Planon PaaP app you can implement custom business logic to monitor your asset criticality. See Apps Development and Planon Marketplace for more information about using PaaP apps.
Procedure
1. In the Criticality TSI, click Add on the action panel.
2. On the data panel, enter a Code, Name, Sequence and Score for the new criticality record. See Criticality fields.
3. Click Save.
4. Repeat adding records until you have all the relevant values / scores required to add an asset's criticality in the Assets TSI.
In the Assets TSI, you can now link your configured criticality values to assets, via the main Criticality reference field and - if required - via five additional Criticality sub fields. These fields must be made available on the relevant Assets layouts. The values (scores) in these fields can be used to prioritize asset maintenance / replacements or make other informed decisions about the asset. See the Criticality field descriptions Asset fields.
