Activity sequence worker
Activity sequence workers automatically assign an execution sequence to maintenance activities generated within a PPM order. Instead of manually defining the order of execution, the selected worker calculates the sequence based on predefined criteria, such as floor sequence, activity start date, or a combination of both.
The calculated sequence is stored in the Sequence field of the maintenance activity. Maintenance activities displayed in back-office applications and mobile solutions are sorted using this value.
An activity sequence worker is applied during PPM order generation. You can select a sequence worker in the following places:
In the Generate (Clustered) Orders dialog when generating orders from one or more activity definitions.
On the PPM Profile, to define a default sequence worker for scheduled or profile-based order generation.
Planon provides the following standard Activity Sequence Workers:
Floor sequence worker
Activity date sequence worker
Option
Description
Floor → Activity Date
Groups work by floor before considering activity dates. Suitable when technicians complete all work on one floor before moving to another.
Example:
Technician spends the whole week on Floor 1.
Complete Monday, Tuesday and Friday work while remaining on that floor.
Useful for minimizing travel.
Activity Date → Floor
Groups work by activity date first, then orders activities by floor. Suitable when activities must be completed on their scheduled dates.
Example:
Daily inspections.
Monday's work must be completed Monday.
Tuesday's work must wait until Tuesday.
Useful for recurring daily activities.
Your organization can also implement custom Activity Sequence Workers to support organization-specific sequencing requirements.
