Sorting lists by order number and reference fields
To be able to easily track and identify the most recent orders, you can sort lists by order number and other reference fields.
This feature works for any module/web definition that contains a list block.
How to enable sorting
The functionality has been developed so that reference fields are now sortable. To enable it for a specific list:
1. Navigate to the List fields of the relevant list block.
2. Within the field properties for the reference field (e.g., OrderRef), the following settings must be configured:
◦ Sort on field: Set this to Yes (it defaults to No).
◦ Sort ascending: Choose the desired direction.
◦ Deviating sort order: Can be used if a specific custom order is required.
3. Numerical Sorting: For order numbers specifically, the system has been updated to use the SysOrderID field behind the scenes. This ensures that sorting is numerical (e.g., 1, 2, 10) rather than alphabetical (e.g., 1, 10, 2).
How it works
1. Go to the Publisher form or any other module containing a list block.
2. Navigate to the list you want to organize, such as the Action quotations or To be actioned list.
3. Click the column header for the field you wish to sort by.
For example, click the Order number header to sort the list chronologically by order. The list is now sorted based on your selection.
| The sorting logic for order numbers uses the underlying system ID to ensure that alphanumeric order numbers are displayed in the correct sequence. |
