About Licensing
This document describes the concepts and principles of licensing as applied in Planon ProCenter.
Planon ProCenter uses the following types of licenses:
• Module license: This type of license enables access to a specified set of Planon ProCenter modules. It can be valid for a particular time span. This type of licence is also known as concurrent license.
• Hit count license: This type of license is based on paying for the hits incurred against a PSS module. PSS discerns the following types of licenses:
◦ Module based: Here you can either have a specific number of available hits per module, or a license for unlimited module access.
◦ Bundle based: Here you can choose several options:
- Query bundle: This type of license allows you to retrieve information from the Planon database to create lists or reports.
- Transaction bundle: This type of license is meant for modules in which you are allowed to make modifications (e.g. submit a reservation, an order, etc.)
• Data license: This license is specific to
Connect for Analytics and REST API, which registers data usage and is similar to hit count license.
• Named license*: This type of license provides access of specific, named users to Planon products. The license defines a number of users. In Planon ProCenter, specific user groups should be linked to the product. A user group can contain multiple users.
| * The named license type is deprecated and will in time be removed (when the related products go out of support). Instead, the Solution license type has been made available. |
• Solution license: This type of license provides access of specific, named users to Planon solutions. The license defines the number of users. In Planon ProCenter, specific user groups should be linked to the solution.
• Volume license: This license type is based on how many business objects with certain properties a user can have in the application.
Volume based licensing does not allow or restrict user access to Planon, instead it allows or restricts the creation of business objects with certain characteristics.
The current volume of every licensed product is stored in License Manager.
• Active user license:
A license type that enables access to Planon products (apps and Planon Self-Service) for which it is not possible to assess up front how many users will be using the functionality.
| • It is possible to create alerts and reports on a license. For example, you can create a notification about any pending license expiry so that you can take action on time. For more information about this topic, see Alerts. • To ensure that customers cannot inadvertently lock themselves out because of an expired license, the License TSI is always available to customers. • When restarting an environment in the Cloud cockpit, the default license is loaded into the environment. |
