Importing AEC doors
You can import AEC door objects from AutoCAD drawings directly into Planon as assets. During CAD Import, each AEC door in the drawing is automatically created as a record in Assets. If the insertion point of an AEC door lies within a defined space, the Space field on the asset is populated automatically.
 | • Only AEC doors are supported. AEC windows and other AEC object types are not imported as assets at this time. • In some cases, the space of an AEC door cannot be determined — for example, when the door spans two spaces. In such cases the Space field is left empty. |
Prerequisites
• AEC property fields must be available in your field mapping configuration.
Configuring the drawing definition
Typically, AEC data is already defined in CAD drawings. Now, it is possible to also import that data into the Planon application.
To import AEC doors, configure your drawing definition as follows:
Procedure
1. Go to CAD drawing definitions and select or create a definition.
2. Go to CAD business objects level and add or select a UDBO based on Assets (CAD linked assets).
3. Go to Details level > CAD business object mapping, in CAD Layer specify the CAD layer on which your AEC door object is located.
| | To import AEC doors on a specific layer, leave the CAD Block field empty and only define the layer. If you also define a Block, only matching block references on the specified layer are imported — AEC doors are excluded. |
By having this configuration, during CAD import, all AEC door objects on this specific layer will be created as assets in the Planon application.
4. On Details level, go to the Field mapping step to specify the data to be retrieved:

Running the import
After configuring the drawing definition and import definition, run the CAD Import. The resulting assets appear in Assets with their mapped AEC property values populated.
