Validating a BIM import/export definition
To ensure accurate and reliable BIM data integration, you can validate the BIM import definition before proceeding with the import.
The action, Verify BIM Import, available in BIM import/export definitions validates a BIM import/export definition using two types of rules:
Common Rules: High-level rules applied to the entire BIM import definition.
XML Rules: File-specific rules applied to each XML file in the import definition.
*
The validation is also performed internally when clicking a Run BIM import or Run BIM export action.
How it works
1. Select your BIM import definition and click Verify BIM import in the action panel to trigger the validation.
First, the common rules are validated, ensuring that the most general prerequisites for the BIM Import are met.
Secondly, for each XML file within the BIM import definition, XML-specific rules are applied.
The logs of these validations are recorded in the BIM import/export logs and BIM import/export log details respectively.
2. To verify the validation result, with your definition selected, go to the BIM import/export logs step and view the log message.
3. To view the details of the XML file validation, with your verification log selected, go to the BIM import/export log details step to view the log message.
When an error is encountered, the event log type will reflect this.
If any of the detailed log's log type is Error the main event log’s log type will also be updated to Error.
